- In some location that the player has the opportunity to see often, something mysterious is written down or spoken which sounds like the name of some sort of object(s). (e.g. "Wampler Pedals") It is later in the game revealed, that this is actually the name of a person who is important to the storyline.

- A man creates a sentient machine caple of moving, and must have it follow him through an environment that becomes unexpectedly (but not unforseeably) dangerous. They both seek shelter and find a very good hiding spot. After awhile, the man goes out, telling the robot to wait for him while he checks to see if it is safe. The man may or may not have an alternate reason to travel, but eventually he dies. His last words go something "[robot name]... It seems, you'll be waiting for me forever... I'm truly sorry..." *deads* This is true because the robot is programmed to obey a command such as "wait" infinitely, or until given another. The machine ends up waiting years or decades, eventually going into a low-power "sleep" state. Then is somehow awakened once more...
